PALESTINE, April 7, 2013--A healthy immune system works efficiently to fight off disease as well as bacterial and viral infections. However, in a person with an autoimmune disorder, the immune system wrongly identifies healthy tissues as foreign, and tries to destroy them.
One of the most common autoimmune conditions is diabetes. Although there is currently no cure for most autoimmune disorders, there are choices that can be implemented to manage these conditions.
Andrea Sims, R.N. with Jordan Health Services will be the speaker at Palestine Resource Center for Independent Living (PRCIL) Diabetic Support Group on Thursday, April 18, at 2:00 p.m. The topic for her presentation is “Diabetes and Autoimmune Disorders”.
PRCIL is located at 421 Avenue A, Palestine, Texas. For more information contact PRCIL at 903-729-7505.
