Police search for suspect in Speedy Trak robbery

TYLER, September 23, 2013-- On September 20,  at approximately 10:48 p.m., Tyler Police Department Officers responded to a commercial robbery at the Speedy Trak gas station, 1811 S. Broadway, in Tyler.

Upon their arrival, a store employee advised she had just been robbed by a black male, armed with a handgun. The clerk stated she observed the suspect in the parking lot moments before the robbery, and saw that his face was covered with a light blue bandana. The clerk immediately turned and headed toward the back of the store. The suspect entered through the front door at this time, and walked around the counter. He then displayed what appeared to be a handgun covered with a black rag and demanded money from the cashier. An undisclosed amount of money was taken. The suspect then fled the scene on foot, northbound, from the parking lot.

The clerk was unharmed during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’9’’, 150-175lbs, wearing a black hoodie, black sweat pants, with a light blue bandana covering his face.

At this time there is no further information pertaining to the case. This incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crime Stoppers at 903-597-CUFF (2833).  Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.
