PALESTINE, May 5, 2013—Early this morning, Palestine Police responded to a disturbance at Club Tangeria, located in the 200 block of Saltworks Road. Police went to the location after a caller reported a man had been shot.
Police and EMS arrived on the scene and found the victim on the ground in front of the club. Initial information from witnesses indicated the victim had been sitting in a car in front of the club at the time of the shooting. Witnesses also reported that a midsize car drove by and three to four shots rang out. The victim was hit in the arm and abdominal area. The victim was transported to a Tyler hospital by air, and was listed in critical but stable condition as of this 9:00 a.m. today.
The victim was from the Fort Worth area. His name has not yet been released, due to the nature of the crime and pending family notification.
Police have talked with several witnesses to the incident and will be following up on several leads concerning this matter. “There are other people that we will be looking to speak with over the next few days,” says Palestine Police Sgt. James Muniz.
The investigation is still in the initial stages and there is more work that must be completed. There has been no arrest at this time. Detectives from the Palestine Police Department will be talking with one person of interest as early as this afternoon.
