TYLER, September 23, 2013--On September 21, at approximately 4:22 p.m., Tyler Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of S. Magnolia, in reference to a shooting that had just occurred.
Upon arrival, officers were advised that a 20 year-old male subject, whose identity is being withheld pending treatment, had been shot one time in front of a residence, and was being transported to the hospital by family members.
Officers learned during the initial investigation that an identified18 year-old suspect, later identified as Dakota Kincaid, was a passenger, driven by the scene in a blue Chevrolet pickup. The suspect reportedly fired multiple shots from within the vehicle with a small caliber firearm, striking at least once the victim who was standing near another vehicle at the residence.
The suspect vehicle fled northbound away from the scene. Surrounding agencies were notified of the offense. Kincaid and two other possible involved parties were detained by Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies for questioning regarding the offense in the area of Anderson CR 336, in Neches.
Officers received information that the motive for the shooting may have been tied to a disturbance occurring during the previous 24 hours regarding Kincaid accusing the victim of the theft of his girlfriend’s cellular telephone.
At last report, the victim was being flown to Trinity Mother Francis due to his injuries. His current condition is unknown at the time of this story.
