ANDERSON CO., September 18, 2013--The body of an unidentified man was found under the Neches River Bridge on Tuesday, according to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor.
The body was found by Texas Department of Transportation mowing crews around 12:00 p.m., under the bridge along U.S. Hwy 79.
The case is being investigated by Anderson County Sheriff’s Office detectives, and the body has been sent for autopsy.
Sheriff Taylor says DNA tests will be required in order to make a positive identification. At this time, the man’s identity and age remain unknown, as does whether or not foul play was involved in the death.
“We are not clear on how long the body had been there. It was starting to decompose,” said Sheriff Taylor. “We have no idea whether foul play is involved or not.”
