PALESTINE September 30, 2013-- For the month of October, Oz the Scarecrow will be popping up all over town in a new promotion by the Palestine Visitor Center. Clues to his whereabouts will be provided weekly and, for every photo taken with Oz and posted to the Visitor Center Facebook page or emailed to the Visitor Center, the submission will be entered to win a cash prize. One entry per location, per person.
Oz will visit three difference locations each week. He will arrive at his first destination on Wed., Oct. 2 and move to his second on Fri., Oct. 4. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, following, he will be at a new location. Clues can be found each Tuesday, on the Visitor Center website and daily on the Visitor Center Facebook page.
“Our staff loves fall and really wanted to encourage people to explore the area,” said Laura Westgate, Main Street Manager and Visitor Center Supervisor. “Staff contacted thirteen locations and was overwhelmed with the positive response.”
Clues for the first week are: Oct. 2, 3 - Location #1 – Purveyors of veggies we love to eat, gather at this metal structure on Spring Street.
Oct. 4,5,6 - Location #2 – A statue, a train and splashing water create the atmosphere so bring your blankets for Saturday nights perfect view.

Organizers plan to install Oz the Scarecrow Oct. 2 – 31 at thirteen different locations around town. The contest is open to everyone and will be family-friendly. The public is asked to be respectful of the private property where Oz will be sitting.
