Palestine Public Library to offer Financial Fundamentals class

PALESTINE, September 5, 2017 – The Palestine Public Library, in conjunction with Regions Bank, will offer a four-part Financial Fundamentals class, starting on Tuesday, September 5. The class, Adult Services Librarian Ana Sanchez said, is for adults and is free to the public. “We would like you to sample these four sessions and give us feedback on future financial education topics you would like the library to offer” The sessions will be taught by Jodie Missildine from the Palestine Regions Bank branch. Missildine, a Regions Branch Manager will have presentations and interactive handouts for the class. Topics covered during the Financial Fundamentals class will include identity theft, banking, budgeting, credit, and protecting yourself from possible scams. The first class, “Protecting Yourself from Identity Theft,” will summarize common forms of identity theft, what to do if you are a victim of identity theft and how to prepare in advance in case your identity is stolen.

This is the first time the Financial Fundamentals class is being held at the library, and future classes on topics like small business money management and investing are possible, Sanchez said. The first class, “Protecting Yourself from Identity Theft,” begins at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5, at the library, 2000 S. Loop 256, inside the Palestine Mall.
