PALESTINE, June, 14, 2017 -- At 2:47 a.m. on June 13, 2017, Officers of the Palestine Police Department were dispatched to the neighborhood surrounding Gardner Drive in reference to a burglary of a vehicle in progress. Upon their immediate arrival, Officers from the Palestine Police Department B Shift were able to apprehend two of the suspects and retrieve many stolen items including a firearm. Officers immediately began contacting citizens living in the area and examining cars for evidence of burglary. As more vehicles were found to be burglarized, the Palestine Detectives were notified to assist in gathering evidence. This case is still under active investigation.
As of June 13, 2017, it is believed more than 30 vehicle are believed to have been burglarized in the area. The Palestine Police Department is still searching for additional criminal accomplices that were involved in the burglaries. In the spirit of public safety, the Palestine Police Department strongly encourages citizens to lock their vehicle doors and keep items of value out of plain sight. Most automobile burglaries in Palestine would have been prevented if the vehicle doors had been locked.
