Palestine PD to begin enforcing new ordinance which prohibits soliciting in roadways

PALESTINE, February 14, 2014—Recently, Palestine adopted a city ordinance which addressed the issue of right-of-way concern and safety by prohibiting solicitation in roadway intersections.

According to Palestine Police Chief Robert Herbert, the ordinance will become enforceable on February 20. By law, the public had to be notified of the new ordinance through news media before officers were able to enforce the new restrictions.

Once the ordinance is enforceable, violators may be issued a citation.
