The City of Palestine has announced ...
PALESTINE, June 23, 2014— The Palestine Police Department is launching PalPD Tips app for Android and iPhone devices that enables the public to send anonymous tips to the police and lets the police respond back, creating a two way anonymous “chat”.
Developed by CitizenObserver, a St. Paul MN company, PalPD Tips puts a powerful new crime fighting tool into the hands of our community for all ages and demographics.
According to Lt. Jeff Powell, Patrol Commander, this capability is a new paradigm for creating safer communities – especially in reaching out to a younger age demographic.
“We’re proud to make this technology available to our citizens free of charge. This tool, along with our existing tip411 program, will help our citizens play an active role in keeping neighborhoods safer, it will engage people of all ages in the process and it will save our agency time and resources. “
"The department has received some useful tips since starting TIP411, both through the webtip and the text functions, however, we have definitely been looking forward to bringing these applications to our citizens, due to the ease of sending tips through the apps", says Powell.
PalPD Tips app can be downloaded online at the Google Play store, iTunes or by visiting the Police Departments website at www.cityofpalestinetx.com/tip411.php
Citizens can also send an anonymous tip to Palestine Police Department by texting the word PALPD and their tip to 847411. Anonymous web tips can be submitted from the Police Departments website at www.cityofpalestinetx.com/tip411.php
Tips through the App are 100% anonymous. CitizenObserver’s technology removes all identifying information before the police department see’s it so there’s no way to identify the sender.
