Palestine PD adds two new officers

PALESTINE, August 2, 2013--The Palestine Police Department has been working diligently over the past few months in an attempt to hire and train new officers to alleviate the current officer shortage.

According to Palestine Police Chief Robert Herbert, things seem to be looking up. Two individuals have graduated from the Kilgore Police Academy and were placed on the payroll yesterday. Another individual has passed the entrance exam, and has been enrolled in the Academy to begin classes in October.

KYYK’s Gary Richards spoke with Chief Herbert about the shortage, officer requirements, and Citizens on Patrol. Click below for more.
