Palestine man hospitalized, suspect arrested in shooting incident

PALESTINE, July 18, 2013--On July 17, 2013 at approximately 3:45 p.m., officers from the Palestine Police Department responded to the Palestine Regional Medical Center (PRMC) after it was reported that a man had been brought in with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police also received a 911 call from and man who advised that the shooting incident had taken place in the 100 block of W. West Huffsmith St. Officers were also dispatched to the Huffsmith location as well.

Lt. James Muniz went to the PRMC and learned that 26 year-old Brandon Lee Lively of Palestine, had suffered a single gunshot wound to the mid-chest area. Lively was later transferred to a Tyler hospital by air ambulance. As of today, it was learned that Lively was in critical but stable condition.

After interviewing numerous people who were at the scene, police arrested 24 year-old Justin Edward Anderson, of Palestine. The investigation showed that the shooting took place at Anderson’s home and the gun in question belonged to Anderson.

Anderson is being held in the Anderson County Jail for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. This offense is a Felony of the second degree which carries punishment of up to 20 years in prison.


An arrest does not mean that the individual or individuals have been convicted of the alleged violation, unless otherwise noted. Individuals are innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
