PALESTINE, August 29, 2013--The Palestine Kiwanis Club will sponsor a blood drive on Tuesday, September 10, in the Walmart parking lot, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
“Blood is in need – in great need – in trauma centers, surgery centers, hospitals all over the area,” said Palestine Kiwanis President Tom Watson. “Just when you think you have enough, something happens and the blood supply decreases, so it’s always needed.”
Donors must be 17 or older, in good general health and weigh at least 110 pounds. Those under 17 years of age who wish to donate must have parental permission. Donors are encouraged to eat a low-fat meal within two to four hours before donating, and to drink a lot of water or juice before and after donating. Donors should avoid alcoholic beverages for 12 hours before and after donating.
