PALESTINE, October 16, 2013— A City-Wide Cleanup will be held for Palestine residents on Saturday, October 19, at the Transfer Station on Hwy 79, from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
This bi-annual Clean-Up Event will be free to Palestine Residents. Participants must show proof of residency. County residents may participate, but will be required to pay dumping fees.
“We’re inviting the citizens of Palestine, giving them an opportunity to clean up some of their bigger areas – maybe something that’s a little bit too big to go in the normal garbage pick-up,” said City of Palestine Public Works Director Tim Perry.
The Clean-Up event will accept normal household garbage, car tires (must be removed from rims), furniture, appliances, wood and shingles, brush, and more. No hazardous materials will be accepted, and no liquids – such as wet paint, household chemicals, herbicides or pesticides, etc., will be accepted.
S.T.S. Electronics will be present at the event to accept electronic recyclables.
Elderly and disabled residents who wish to participate may arrange for curb-side pickup by calling 903-731-8423.
KYYK’s Gary Richards spoke with Perry about the event. Click below for more details.
