New Westwood Principal resigns

PALESTINE, August 26, 2013--Shane Jones, the new Principal of Westwood High School has resigned, according to Westwood Superintendent Dr. Ed Lyman.

The resignation came as a surprise to the Board, who had just appointed Jones to the position after he had served as Interim Principal since the departure of Clint McLain.

Dr. Lyman declined to comment on the reasons behind the resignation of Jones, calling it a personal and a personnel matter. Dr. Lyman did offer well wishes to Jones, however. “We wish Mr. Jones the best in all that he does,” said Dr. Lyman. “He served for us for fourteen years and did an outstanding job in the athletic department and as an assistant principal. But he’s chosen other options for employment, so he’s resigned and moved on.”

In light of the resignation, Mr. Robert Kubara is Acting High School Principal, with Ms. Judy Thomason and Ms. Julana Harmon serving as Assitant Princpals.

KYYK's Gary Richards spoke with Dr. Lyman about the resignation and the future plans for Westwood. Click below for more.
