NET Health, Tyler ISD host immunization clinics

TYLER, April 28, 2014-- The Northeast Texas Public Health District will administer immunizations at three Tyler ISD middle school campuses beginning next week. The clinics are intended to give parents an opportunity to update their children’s required school immunizations before the last minute rush in August.

“The more people who are immunized, the less chance of vaccine-preventable diseases,” Sylvia Warren, immunization and TB director with NET Health, said. “Waiting until August will cause nothing but long waiting periods, frustration and anger. This can all be avoided if parents take this opportunity to get their children’s vaccinations now.”

Parents whose students are covered by Medicaid and CHIP must present their cards at the time of service and there is no charge for the vaccines. Parents with Blue Cross Blue Shield or Cigna insurers must call the NET Health clinic ahead of time to verify insurance coverage. A fee of $10.00 for each vaccine will be collected at the time of service for those without health insurance. Payment can be made in the form of check or cash.

Each clinic is open to all students regardless of which campus they attend and students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
