PALESTINE, September 8, 2017 – The Palestine City Council has named Alex Nemer II as the new Municipal Court Judge during a special meeting of the council on Monday, September 5.
Nemer is a long-time resident of Palestine and local attorney. He has served Palestine and Anderson County for many years and will serve a second stint as Municipal Court Judge.
Nemer was the Municipal Court Judge from January 1974 to December 1976. He has also served as the Assistant County Attorney and later the County Attorney for Anderson County.
He also served as the Director of Swim Officials for the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas; a member of the YMCA National Swimming and Diving Advisory Committee and member of vestry at St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church.
A graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, Nemer is also a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University and Palestine High School.
Nemer begins his tenure as judge in October. He replaces current judge William Curley.
