Nacogdoches warns of possible icy conditions

NACOGDOCHES, February 10, 2014— A winter weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service beginning at midnight tonight, through tomorrow. The advisory area includes the City of Nacogdoches and Nacogdoches County.

The possibility exists for freezing rain and sleet. Ice may accumulate on above ground surfaces, such as bridges, overpasses, trees and power lines.

Residents are reminded to prepare for the possibility of dangerous driving conditions and wide spread power outages.

It is recommended that residents have a supply of bottled water and non-perishable food items on hand in case of a power outage. Check flashlight batteries. If you use a generator, remember to operate it outside and never plug a generator directly into a home without the proper electrical equipment in place.
