Moore raises money for Parkinson 's disease research

TYLER, May 7, 2013--Moore MST Magnet School Cheerleaders, Ashlyn Fleet, Sara Skrocki, Sage Sowels, Gracie Boudreau, Erin Williams, Taylea Vargas, Megan Pirtle, and Ayotas Johnson lead the way to begin the 6th Annual East Texas Parkinson’s Optimism Walk for Research on Saturday, May 4, at the Rose Rudman Trails in Tyler.

Before the walk, the cheerleaders presented the American Parkinson Disease Association’s East Texas Chapter with a $1,004 donation, which was raised by Moore MST faculty and students on Thursday, May 2.

“The overwhelming support shown by this generous donation will benefit many who suffer from this disease,” said Claude Lane, Moore MST Magnet School Principal.

Parkinson’s disease affects an estimated 1.6 million Americans. Currently, there is no known cure for the disease.
