ALTO, June 30, 2013—Mission Tejas has plenty of exciting events planned for summer. If you are looking for something to do with your family, schedule time to spend at Mission Tejas, where there is something for everyone in the July schedule of events.
JULY 6: Sounds of the Night - This night time program will explore the sometimes spooky sounds of the forest at night. Learn about different nocturnal wildlife and their special adaptations. We will begin at The Mission, the program is from 8 – 9 p.m. Regular entry fees apply. If you arrive after the park office is closed, please use the self-pay station.
JULY 13: Owl Prowl - Join our Ranger for a look at the world of owls. Find out who’s who in the world of our night-flying predators and join us for a walk to try to find and hear our local owls. Be sure to bring a flashlight. Please meet at The Pavilion, the program is from 8- 9 p.m. Regular entry fees apply. If you arrive after the park office is closed, please use the self-pay station.
JULY 20: Guided Park Tour - A Ranger guided tour of the park features including The Mission Replica, El Camino Real and The Rice Family Log Home. The history of Texas State Parks & Mission Tejas State Park will also be discussed. Meet at 10 a.m., at The Mission.
JULY 27: Predators and Prey, a Crucial Balance - This program will detail the important relationship between the predators and prey of East Texas. We will show examples of what kind of animals make up this relationship. Activities and games may follow depending on attendance. Scheduled from 10 - 11:30 a.m., at The Pavilion.
All of our programs are free, there is a $2.00 park entry fee for all 13 yrs and older. Park passes would apply as usual. We are located on Hwy 21 between Alto and Crockett. Please call 936-687-2394 with any questions.
