Mission Tejas announces events for August, 2014

ALTO, July 28, 2014— Mission Tejas State Park has announced the list of upcoming events for August, 2014.

The event schedule is as follows:

August 2 - Guided Tour of The Mission Replica and The Rice Family Log Home:  Participants will meet at 9:00 a.m., at The Rice Home.

August 9 - Dutch Oven Cooking: Learn the basics of Dutch Oven Cooking and taste the delicious results.  Participants will meet at 2:00 p.m., at The Pavilion.

August 16 - Fishing with a Ranger: Join the Ranger for a few hours of fishing or all day, if you like. Bring your own equipment or use the park’s poles, tackle and bait. No fishing license required. Participants will meet at 9:00 a.m., at the pond.

August 23 – Archery:  Learn the basics of archery. This class will cover safety, form, and technique. All equipment is provided. Participants will meet at 9:00 a.m., next to the Headquarters building.

August 30 - Guided Nature Hike and Wildlife Identification - Explore the park with the Ranger, learning about the park, nature, and wildlife. Participants will meet at the Rice Home at 9:00 a.m. This hike will be approximately 3 miles. It could be longer if all participants are interested. The hike will be completed by Noon. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes, and don’t forget bug spray and bottled water.

All events are free, but there is a park entry fee of $2.00 per person for everyone ages 13 yrs and older.  Mission Tejas is located on Hwy 21, between Alto and Crockett.
