PALESTINE, July 12, 2013-- Wendy Ellis, Palestine Economic Director and Interim City Manager, presented Mike Ohrt a Key to the City for his leadership and accomplishments as Palestine’s City Manager. The Key was presented at a going away reception held at Ben E. Keith on July 10.
The reception, honoring Ohrt, was hosted by the Palestine Chamber of Commerce, Ben E. Keith and the City of Palestine.
“When I came on board ten years ago, you would not have seen the Palestine Chamber of Commerce and the City come together and organize an event to recognize someone,” said Mike Ohrt, City Manager of Palestine. “Now, it’s a frequent occurrence and a testament of the positive direction our community is heading towards.”
Palestine City Manager Mike Ohrt announced his resignation on June 13. Ohrt has served the City of Palestine since June, of 2003. He was named Interim City Manager in 2010, and became City Manager in March, of 2011. He will remain in that position through July 12.
