May brings fun, educational activities to Mission Tejas

ALTO, April 23, 2013—There will be a multitude of fun and educational family activities available at Mission Tejas State Park throughout the month of May. Below is a list of scheduled activities.

May 4:  Civilian Conservation Corp Legacy -  A presentation featuring the work of the CCC in Mission Tejas and the CCC legacy through-out the state of Texas.  Meet at 10 a.m., at The Mission. 

May 11:  Tour of the Park - A guided tour of the park features including The Rice Family Log Home, El Camino Real and The Mission Replica.  The history of Texas State Parks & Mission Tejas State Park will also be discussed.  Meet at 10 a.m., at The Rice Family Log Home. 

May 18:  Archery Skills -  Learn the basics of archery including safety, form and technique.  This program is best for children 6 yrs and older.  Equipment is provided or you may bring your own.  Meet at 10 a.m., next to the Headquarters building. 

May 25: Geocaching 101- Learn to use a GPS unit to find hidden treasure.  This is a great activity for all ages, no experience needed.  Bring your own GPS unit or borrow one of ours.  Meet at 10 a.m., at The Pavilion. 

All programs are free, there is a $2.00 park entry fee for all 13 yrs and older.  We are located on Hwy 21 between Alto and Crockett.
