Longview to host Multicultural Festival Oct. 19

LONGVIEW, October 16, 2013-- The City of Longview Partners in Prevention’s Unity and Diversity Committee will host the annual Multicultural Festival on Saturday, October 19, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Longview Exhibit Building, 1123 Jaycee Dr. The event promises to be rich with cultural entertainment, exhibits, merchant booths and multicultural cuisine for purchase. Family-friendly indoor and outdoor activities will be provided. Admission to the festival is free.

The Multicultural Festival is one of several annual events hosted by the Unity and Diversity Committee in effort to raise awareness and celebrate the diversity of the Longview community. Performances during the festival include: singing by Penni Candi; singing by Angela Lambert; singing and dancing by the Artstview Bravo Players; dancing by the Down Home Cloggers; prose poetry by Fear the Poet and much more. The program will open at 10:00 a.m. with a welcome, the pledge of allegiance, the national anthem, and a variety of talent and chef demonstrations to follow.

Nominations for the Unity and Diversity Committee’s Annual Unity Honors Luncheon can be placed at the Multicultural Festival.
