Local business owners concerned about Walmart

FRANKSTON, July 18, 2014— Recently, the announcement was made that Walmart would be opening a store in Frankston. This announcement has not been well received by some of the local business owners who are concerned that the store will make it more difficult for small business owners to stay in business.

“Our objective is to do the very best for our customers that we can, because they’re also our neighbors and they’re also the people that we see at church and at ballgames, and that’s who we live with,” said Maxwell Pharmacy owner Ann Maxwell. “We intend to be here. We intend to be in this community and serve just as long as possible.”

Maxwell and other local business owners presented their concern at a recent City Council meeting.

KYYK’s Gary Richards spoke with Maxwell about the issue. Click below for more.
