Living Legacy Pageant kicks off Juneteenth Celebration in Palestine

PALESTINE, June 18, 2014— The Negro Historical Preservation Society of Palestine will host the annual Juneteenth Celebration, which will be held June 19 – 21, in Palestine.

Juneteenth Celebration activities include:

Thursday, 7:00 p.m. – Living Legacy Juneteenth Pageant (Ben E. Keith Community Room)

Friday, 6:00 p.m. – Fish Fry (Calhoun Park) – Meals will be served for $8.00 each.

Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – Parade line-up (North side of the Anderson County Courthouse)

Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – Reenactment of the 1868 Freedman's March

Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - Parade

Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Festivities in Calhoun part including program, food, games, and music.
