TYLER, April 24, 2013--The official weigh-out for participants of the Lighten Up East Texas (LUET) Weight Loss Challenge is Saturday, April 20, thru Saturday, April 27. The weight loss challenge, sponsored in part by Brookshire Grocery Company, Lighthouse Graphics, and Allen Samuels Tyler, is a local movement to make East Texas a healthier community in which to live. The LUET celebration will take place on Saturday, May 18, at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by the presentation, to acknowledge all participants for their hard work and to award prizes.
Lighten Up East Texas is a regional weight loss challenge, created by the Fit City Coalition, in which individuals, teams and communities have competed to lose weight and improve their health. Participants will receive entries into a grand prize drawing for every 5 percent of weight lost, tracked from an official weigh-in at the start and the official weigh-out at the end of the challenge.
Participants can weigh out on April 27, from 10 a.m. – noon, at the new R.B. Hubbard Center, 304 East Ferguson Street in Tyler or they can choose from an official weigh out site listed at www.LightenUpEastTexas.com, and weigh anytime during the week of April 20 – 27. The opportunity to weigh out on April 27, is the last possible opportunity to enter their ending weight. Participants must have an official weigh out to be registered for the prize drawings.
Donated by Allen Samuels Tyler, the grand prize drawing will be a new 2013 Dodge Dart! Other great prizes include $4,000 worth of Brookshire’s gift cards, a $5,000 Travel Masters/Fit City dream vacation, annual memberships and massage packages at ETMC Olympic Center, and hotel gift certificates.
