LONGVIEW, July 31, 2013-- LeTourneau University announces Dr. Jeffrey Quiett as professor of psychology, effective Aug. 1.
Quiett holds a Bachelor of Arts from Samford University, a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a doctoral degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He has professional membership with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy as a clinical fellow and approved supervisor. He also has professional membership with the Alabama Counseling Association.
“Dr. Quiett brings significant experience, wisdom, and leadership as well as that rare combination of theological and biblical training alongside a deep understanding of clinical psychology and the art of counseling,” said LETU Provost Dr. Philip A. Coyle. “He can speak with expertise, passion and confidence on the significant relational and spiritual challenges confronting individual, couples and families today. Our undergraduate and graduate psychology, counseling and family therapy students will soon be awakened to the resources for changing lives through his teaching and mentoring at LeTourneau.”
Quiett has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Houston Baptist University and the University of Mobile.
Quiett has served as chaplain at Children’s Hospital, University Hospital and Memorial Medical Center in New Orleans. He has also served as a psychotherapist for Union Baptist Center for Counseling in Houston and as minister of counseling for Crosspoint Community Church and Jubilee Baptist Church.
With the University of Mobile, Quiett has led several mission trips overseas, including trips to Japan, Malta, Chile, China, Brazil and Romania.
He and his wife, Kimberly, come to LETU from Spanish Fort, Ala. with their two daughters Kailey and Kelsey.
