LeTourneau University named in top five for Return on Investment

LONGVIEW, April 22, 2014-- LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, ranked 5th among the top 10 schools with the best return on investment in the state, and ranked 2nd among private Texas colleges and universities, according to Seattle-based PayScale Inc.

The 2014 PayScale College ROI Report recently ranked U.S. colleges and universities on the total income graduates will earn after 20 years in the workforce, subtracting the cost of the college education and what they would have earned as high school graduates.

The 20-year ROI in Texas are:

  1. Rice University, $633,400 (private)
  2. Texas A&M University, $566,700
  3. University of Texas at Austin, $497,100
  4. Prairie View A&M University, $494,900
  5. LeTourneau University, $436,000 (private)
  6. University of Texas at Dallas, $435,400
  7. University of Houston, $409,300
  8. University of Texas at Arlington, $402,500
  9. Southern Methodist University, $401,900 (private)
  10. Texas Tech University, $398,800

The purpose of the rankings is to provide insight into the value of a college education compared to other investments.

The top schools in the listings, both statewide and nationally, have strong programs in engineering and technology.  The top three schools nationally were Harvey Mudd College, California Institute of Technology and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, respectively.
