Lakeview Methodist Conference Center begins new construction, expansion

PALESTINE, March 25, 2014— On February 20, Lakeview Methodist Conference Center was honored and excited to receive a $6.5 million grant from the Moody Memorial Permanent Endowment Fund. Moody Memorial PEF is a part of the Moody Methodist Church located in Galveston, TX, and is a part of the Texas Annual Conference of the Methodist Church. Moody Methodist Church has been a long time supporter of Lakeview.

Lakeview is currently in the early stages of a $15 million capital campaign entitled "For Such a Time as This.” The campaign will seek to raise $8.5 million over the next four years to reach their goal.  With the grant, Lakeview has been able to continue the improvements that will vastly improve the quality of the conference center. The campaign will encompass the following projects: relocation of the Sisk Maintenance Shop (Completed Nov 2013), relocation of Windham Dormitory Complex, replacement of the Wesley Dormitory Complex and renovations to Roy Hall, Snack Shack and Game room. In addition, improvements include building an up-scale RV park, a rustic/scout camp on Lake Wilson, creation of new hiking and biking trails, landscaping and design of the central plaza and infrastructure improvements.

A groundbreaking for the Windham Dormitory Complex will be set for March 2014, with an anticipated 10 month time frame.
