JACKSONVILLE, May 17, 2013--The Jacksonville High School Career and Technical Education Department awarded 499 individual industry certification awards at the program’s fourth annual awards ceremony on Thursday, May 17, at the JHS Cafeteria. Students in the CTE program were recognized for completing the requirements to obtain industry certifications in ten different areas.
The area certifications awarded and the number of students receiving the recognition were:
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, CPR (30)
Texas / Cherokee County Food Handler Safety (73)
Career Safe: Occupational Safety and Health Administration (242)
Valvoline Motor Oil Basic Training Certification (31)
Briggs – Stratton Master Service Technician Certifications (new this year) (20)
Engine Equipment and Training Council Certifications (new this year), testing in June
Internet and Computing Core Certifications (8)
Adobe Certified Associate, Photoshop (45)
Microsoft Office Specialist, Word 2010, PowerPoint 2010, Excel 2010 (80)
Floral Design (1)
In addition to the industry certifications, the CTE Students of the Month were honored, and the JHS CTE Student of the year was announced.
