Jacksonville IDS Board requests bond for new construction, additions

JACKSONVILLE, August 30, 2013--At a recent School Board meeting, Jacksonville ISD presented a bond issue which will be presented to the public and voted on in a bond election on November 5.

The bond, for a total of 22.785 million, would be for construction of a new Westside Elementary, and would include additions to Nichols Intermediate School.

According to Jacksonville Superintendent, Dr. Joe Wardell, a tax increase of approximately 8 ½ cents would accompany the bond. Homeowners would notice an increase of approximately $5 per month on an average Jacksonville residence which is valued at approximately $88,000.
