Jacksonville Chamber inducts new Wall of Fame members

JACKSONVILLE, July 11, 2013-- The Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce inducted three new members to the Wall of Fame on July 9, 2013 during the Business After Hours that was held at Jacksonville Title Company. The McCown brothers are the new honorees.

Randy McCown: The oldest brother, played for Texas A & M as quarterback.  The quarterback's time at College Station was highlighted by an emotional win over rival Texas in 1999.  Just days before the Aggie's 20-16 win over the Longhorns, 12 people were killed when the Aggies bonfire collapsed during construction.  Randy is quoted as say, "There was a lot of emotion and then to top it off, my last pass at Kyle Field is caught for a touchdown. That's tough to top." Also, Randy was the starting quarterback in 1998, when the Aggies beat #2 Nebraska. It was part of a ten-game winning streak that propelled A & M to the Big 12 Championship game.

Josh McCown: When Josh was playing for the Arizona Cardinals, The Minnesota Vikings came into the game at 9-6 needing a win over the 3-12 Arizona Cardinals to win the NFC North Division and qualify for the playoffs. A loss, and the Packers would win the NFC North, and the Vikings would miss the playoffs after starting the season 6-0.  Josh, throwing the last pass of the game, pulled off a "play of a life time" and Arizona stunned Minnesota by winning the game and kept the Vikings out of the NFC North Division playoffs. One of the highlights in Josh's career has to be when the Chicago Bears started him at quarterback one Christmas/Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Josh also played in the NFL's first regular-season game outside the United States in Mexico City. This game was televised and viewed by 100,000+ fans in the stands.

Luke McCown:  Luke played college football for the La. Tech Bulldogs and was cheered on by his sister, Amy, while they were both attending La. Tech.  Luke was recently elected to the La. Tech's Hall of Fame. To begin his professional career in football, Luke was drafted by Cleveland Browns in the 4th round of the 2004 NFL draft.  He went on to start in four games for Cleveland. After moving to Tampa Bay, he led Tampa Bay to victory over the New Orleans Saints. He started the games with 15 consecutive completions and passed for over 300 yards. He has played for the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons. All three brothers, along with sister, Amy, attended Jacksonville ISD schools and graduated from Jacksonville High School.
