Jacksonville Back-to-School Fair to take place at Norman Activity Center

JACKSONVILLE, July 25, 2014— The Jacksonville Back-to-School Children’s Fair will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2014, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Norman Activity Center, 526 E. Commerce, in Jacksonville.

This event is to help parents and students get ready for school. Gently used “standardized dress” clothes and school supplies will be given away. Exhibitors promoting health, safety, and after school activities will be present at the event.

Teachers and aides from JISD will also be on-hand to help those in attendance learn more about JISD schools, opportunities, and requirements.

Featured at the event:

  • Gently used “Standardized dress” school clothes for JISD students. Student must be present
  • Backpacks with notebook paper, folders, crayons, and pencils for JISD students. Student must be present
  • Information on dental hygiene
  • Information booths on health and nutrition
  • Karate demonstration and entertainment
  • Information on after school programs
  • Sports opportunities
  • Information from ACCESS, CHIPS, H.O.P.E., JISD, Public Health Department, Jacksonville Police Department, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, WIC, etc.

Admission to the event is free. Participants must bring proof of residency in JISD

Those wishing to donate gently used clothing may drop clothing off at The Clothes Closet on Main Street, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
