CROCKETT, September 10, 2013--A Houston County Grand Jury has handed down multiple indictments to a woman who left her children in the car while she entered a store to shoplift.
In February, Maria Espinosa was arrested and charged with Theft, after allegedly shoplifting in Walmart. During the course of the investigation, it was determined Espinosa had left her three children, ranging in age from 3 – 7, unattended in the vehicle while she was in the store. On September 6, Espinosa was arrested again on charges of child abandonment in connection with the incident.
The case was taken to the local grand jury, which has now handed down three counts of Child Abandonment or Endangerment.
Espinosa is being held in the Houston County Jail on $5,000 bond.
