GRAPELAND, October 3, 2013— The 68th Annual Peanut Festival will be held October 10 – 12, in Grapeland.
The event kicks off with Carnival Family Night from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m., on Thursday night.
On Friday, the Homecoming Pep Rally will be held at 12:00 p.m., at the High School Gym. The Homecoming Queen Presentation will follow at 7:00 p.m., at the Grapeland Football Stadium. Immediately following will be the Homecoming Football Game. The evening will wrap up with the Street Dance, which will be held on Main Street, from 10:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
Saturday’s events include a 5K Run, held at Salmon Lake Park, beginning at 7:00 a.m. A Dignitary Breakfast will be held at the GISD Library at 9:00 a.m.
The Peanut Parade will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Main Street. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The Parade will include floats, antique tractors, classic cars, horses, and more.
The Peanut Carnival, held at City Park, will begin at 10:00 a.m., and offer rides, live music, crafts, and food throughout the day.
Saturday night, the 68th annual Peanut Festival will crown this year’s Peanut Queen at the Queen Coronation, held at Shoultz Auditorium, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale at Platt Heating and Air in Grapeland, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 each.
The 68th Annual Peanut Festival Queen Contestants are: Anhel Owens, Atlana Watson, Elizabeth Conner, Kaley Yourgenson, Lacy Hammond, Mary Wardell, Roxanne Hanna, Shambrika Davis, and Shelby Frauenberger.
