Grapeland nears completion on city water well

GRAPELAND, October 3, 2013— The City of Grapeland is nearing completion on the city water well project.

According to City Superintendent Shawn Wiley, the project has been in the works for 3-4 years, and it took approximately 2-3 months to finish the well once work had begun. There is still work to do, including completion of storage tanks.

The project, funded by a CDBG grant, will be used as a back-up water supply for the City of Elkhart.

“The intention is just to support our ability to provide customers with water in times of drought,” said Wiley.

KYYK’s Gary Richards spoke with Wiley about the project, and what remains to be done before completion. Click below to hear interview.
