Grapeland names new Police Chief

GRAPELAND, June 20, 2013--The City of Grapeland’s search for a new Police Chief seems to have been resolved, according to Grapeland Mayor George Pierson.

The position of Police Chief was left vacant after Grapeland City Council unanimously voted to terminate Police Chief John Smith in April, of this year. Shortly after the termination was announced, Grapeland Police Department Investigator Chuck Franklin was named as the Interim Police Chief.

In a Council meeting on June 11, the City Council voted to name Franklin the new Police Chief.
