Garrison Man Dies in Overnight Crash on US 59 in Nacogdoches

NACOGDOCHES, SEPTEMBER 21, 2017 -- At approximately 12:45a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a two vehicle crash on US 59 in Nacogdoches County.  The crash occurred approximately one (1) mile North of Appleby, Texas.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 2018 Mack truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling southbound on US 59.  A 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling northbound on US 59.  For an unknown reason, the driver of the Chevrolet failed to drive in a single lane, crossed into the southbound traffic lane and struck the 18-wheeler.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 25-year-old Aaron Lee Borden of Garrison, was transported to Nacogdoches Memorial hospital with serious injuries.

The passenger of the Chevrolet, Adam Carpenter Borden, 21, of Garrison, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Kerry Williamson.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, 53-year-old Eduardo Garcia of Nacogdoches, was not injured in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation as Troopers work to determine the exact factors that contributed to this fatal crash.

At this time, there are no further details to be released.
