Fundraiser planned to benefit injured Anderson Co. Deputy

ANDERSON CO., August 4, 2014— A fundraiser has been planned for injured Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputy Donnie Myers, according to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor.

The fundraiser will be held on Thursday, August 7, at Mazzios, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Myers was injured after an underlying medical condition caused him to lose consciousness while operating his patrol vehicle, which resulted in an accident. Deputy Myers lost control of his vehicle which left the roadway, crashed through a fence at the First Presbyterian Church, and ran into a second fence.

Deputy Myers sustained multiple injuries as a result of the accident, including several broken vertebrae.

In addition to the fundraiser, a benefit account has been established for those who wish to make a donation to assist Deputy Myers and his family with medical expenses. Those wishing to donate may give to the Deputy Donnie Myers Jr. Benefit Account at Prosperity Bank in Palestine.
