FRANKSTON, February 1, 2013—Frankston ISD is currently considering adoption of the Guardian Plan. The Guardian Plan is a measure which allows certain school personnel to receive specialized training, and then carry a concealed weapon on school grounds.
Frankston Superintendent Keith Murphy says although they are not ready to take action at this time, the Board has been speaking to members of the community and discussing their options. Superintendent Murphy says school security has always been a priority and adds, “It’s time to reflect and take a look at what we’re doing, and see what we can do better.”
Frankston is not alone in considering adoption of the Guardian Plan. Westwood ISD recently held a special Public Hearing and is expected to announce, on February 11, whether or not the plan will be adopted.
Superintendent Murphy spoke with KYYK’s Gary Richards about the Board’s consideration and the school’s security. Click below to hear interview.
