TYLER, October 10, 2013— All of the essential ingredients for a great time are secured for Saturday’s 26th Annual Festival on the Square Texas Music concert in Downtown Tyler. Set for Saturday, Oct. 12, in the heart of downtown.
Four bands will play throughout the evening at the concert, which is a fundraiser for the City of Tyler Main Street Department.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. An acoustic set by Rich O’Toole will begin at approximately 6 p.m., followed by Fred Andrews and Honeybrowne at 7 p.m. Sons of Fathers will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. The headliner, Cody Canada and The Departed are scheduled to perform at 10:15 p.m.
“We invite everyone to come out and enjoy the concert,” said Beverly Abell, department leader of the City of Tyler Main Street Department. “There is something really great about being outdoors in October under the stars on the brick streets of our downtown and listening to great live music.”
Not only does the concert serve the purpose of providing entertainment, but it also provides a large part of the Main Street Department’s operating budget for the year.
“Many people do not realize that though Main Street is a City of Tyler department, we have to fundraise a large part of our budget,” Abell said. “By supporting Festival on the Square, people are supporting our gallery exhibits, ArtWalk events, historic preservation projects, business development, streetscape projects and more.”
Advance tickets are $20 each and are available at Gallery Main Street, 110 W. Erwin St., or online at www.FestivalontheSquare.com. Tickets at the gate on Saturday will be $25 each.
The festival is still seeking volunteers. Those who would like to help with the event should click on the volunteer link at www.FestivalontheSquare.com.
Those who want further details should email Abell at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the City of Tyler Main Street Department at 903-593-6905.
