TYLER, October 2, 2013— The Festival on the Square concert in downtown Tyle,r is one of the area’s favorite events, but to make it work, organizers need volunteers to help.
“We need everything from ticket-takers to coupon sales people and helpers at the VIP area,” said City of Tyler Main Street Department Leader Beverly Abell, who added that all volunteers will receive a free T-shirt and ticket to the event.
Those interested in volunteering can go to www.FestivalontheSquare.com, click on the “volunteer” link, and sign up for their chosen area and time frame.
A volunteer party is planned for Thursday, Oct. 10, 5-7 p.m., at Gallery Main Street, 110 W. Erwin. Volunteers may pick up their T-shirts and work area instructions at that time.
Festival on the Square is set for Saturday, Oct. 12. Gates will open at 5 p.m., and music will continue through midnight. Tickets will be $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Links to online ticket sales and local sales locations will be on the Festival website, www.FestivalontheSquare.com.
Cody Canada and the Departed, Sons of Fathers, Fred Andrews and Honeybrowne and Rich O’Toole will perform.
Festival on the Square is a concert of predominantly Texas country music on the brick streets of downtown Tyler. More than 2,000 people are expected to attend. The event is the single largest fundraiser for the City of Tyler Main Street Department, which has the mission of supporting the revitalization of downtown Tyler.
