Engineer with Baze Chemical addresses public safety concerns

PALESTINE, June 26, 2013--Baze Chemical is in the process of locating an ethoxylation plant in the Palestine Area. Located at the old Vernon Calhoun meat packing site on FM 323, ground preparation and road construction are well underway and the building of the facility has commenced. According to Maurice Karres, Chemical Engineer with Baze Chemical, the project was originally slated to take a year, and they are about 1/3 of the way to completion.

The arrival of the company has been cause for some public concern. Although the company will create new jobs and offer a boost to area economy, many have questioned the issue of public safety in relation to chemical production and transport.

Karres spoke with KYYK’s Gary Richards about the building and operation of the facility. Karres addresses why the company chose Palestine, what kinds of jobs will be created, what kind of chemicals will be involved, and the issue of public safety. Click below to hear more.
