ELKHART, October 23, 2013— Big changes are in store for Elkhart students and staff as new construction gets underway.
Recently, many older school buildings were torn down, and two modular buildings, as well as a trailer-house were sold and removed from their location. This was done in preparation for upcoming construction in the area, which will include a new entrance to the downtown campus, a new bus drive – complete with canopy covering, and a new parking lot.
According to Elkhart Superintendent Ray DeSpain, the School Board will be naming a construction contractor at the next meeting, which will be held on Oct. 28, and construction is expected to begin around Thanksgiving.
KYYK’s Gary Richards spoke with Superintendent DeSpain about the upcoming construction projects, timeline, and funding, along with an update on current enrollment, explanation of the new 3A classification, current budget and staff pay raises. Click below for more.
