Edna Street Burglary call results in arrest, multiple charges

PALESTINE, July 25, 2013--On July 23, at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers from the Palestine Police Department responded to a possible burglary of a residence in the 100 block of Edna Street.

Police received a call from a concerned citizen stating that they had observed a young man enter into their neighbor’s garage. The caller advised that they could see the man looking through items inside the garage.

Police arrived on the scene and located 20 year old Andrew Deberry of Palestine. Deberry was identified as the person that was inside the garage in the 100 block of Edna Street. With further investigation, it was also determined that Mr. Deberry had an outstanding warrant from Houston County for Sexual Assault.

Deberry was taken into custody and found to have drugs in his possession. Deberry was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone. The residence where this incident took place was next to Westwood High School.

Deberry was transported to the Anderson County Jail where he was booked in for the offenses of Burglary of a Habitation, a $15,000 bond; Sexual Assault, a $15,000 bond; Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone, a $10,000 bond; and Possession of a Dangerous Drugs, a $5000 bond.

As of today, Mr. Deberry was still being held in the Anderson County Jail on bonds totaling over $45,000.
