East Texas State Fair begins tomorrow

TYLER, September 19, 2013— The 98th annual East Texas State Fair will be held September 20 – 29, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., daily.

The Fair kicks off on Friday, with free admission for everyone until 2:00 p.m. As Senior Day, active adults ages 55 or better may enjoy free admission until 6:00 p.m. Unlimited armbands will be sold for $25.00. The fair will be open from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., with the Carnival running from 4:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Friday’s special events include: AgriWorlds, Great American Frontier Show, Sand Sculpture, Wade Henry, Wolves of the World, Pasture and Wildlife Plant Identification, Sinbad-High Dive Show, Photography Contest, The Marketplace, Carnival & Midway, and a free concert in the Budweiser Beer Garden. Friday’s concert will feature the Take 2 Band from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.

For the duration of the Fair, families will be treated to food, fun, and entertainment. North American Midway Entertainment (NAME), the world’s largest traveling midway company, will provide over 40 rides for midway lovers and thrill seekers. In addition, The Marketplace, located in the Harvey Convention Center, will offer guests everything from health screenings and gutters, to a new mattress or purse. Upcoming concerts include: Take 2 Band, JB and the Moonshine Band, La Invasora Mix Fest, Lacie Carpenter & The Southern String Band, Donnie Pendleton & Alan Fox Band, Folk Family Revival, George Gee & Kindred, Tyler Lenius Band, The Swon Brothers, and La Invasora Conjunto Fest.
