PALESTINE, March 25, 2013––A third murder suspect has turned himself in to Anderson County authorities according to Palestine Police Sgt. James Muniz.
Rafael Marquez Jr. of Palestine has been wanted for murder since a September, 2012 fight that took place between as many as five individuals and resulted in the stabbing death of Jason Villanueva.
PPD reported in September that they found Villanueva lying near the street with a stab wound to the upper area of his chest near the intersection of Howard and Illinois streets in Palestine after getting reports of a fight between multiple individuals.
On September 9, 2012, shortly after the fight and stabbing, Jose Arturo Garcia and Franco Garcia, brothers, were charged with Villanueva’s murder. A warrant was also issued for Marquez but police and other authorities cooperating with the PPD, including the U.S. marshal’s office, were unable to locate Marquez.
Marquez turned himself in to the Anderson County Sheriff's Department and is being held by ACSO on a $250,000 bond.
Gary Richard's spoke to Sgt. Muniz of the Palestine Police Department about Marquez and the case.
