DPS urges safety during Labor Day Weekend

PALESTINE, August 26, 2013--Labor Day Weekend is often a chance for families and friends to celebrate with summer activities one last time. Although this can be a great time for everyone involved, there are dangers associated with Labor Day Weekend of which the public should be aware and cautious.

According to Department of Public Safety Officer Jean Dark, Officers are increasing DWI patrol from August 19 – September 9, which includes Labor Day Weekend. “It’s about keeping our roadways safe for everybody. That is our biggest concern,” says Officer Dark.

There will be an increased focus on speeders and seat belt violators during this time as well.

KYYK’s Gary Richards spoke with Officer Dark about the holiday, and about back-to-school safety. Click below for more.
