DPS urges motorist caution during back to school, Labor Day holiday weekend

PALESTINE, August 27, 2014— The Texas Department of Public Safety is urging motorists to use caution and obey the law as children return to school and during the upcoming Labor Day weekend.

DPS will increase patrols during the Labor Day holiday weekend in an effort to discourage drinking and driving, and to get impaired drivers off the road. Motorists are reminded to avoid drinking and driving as they celebrate the weekend holiday.

With an increase of youngsters out and about in the mornings and afternoons, motorists are also reminded to follow school bus, school zone, and general laws which protect our kids and keep them safe on their way to and from school.

KYYK’s Gary Richards spoke with DPS Trooper Jean Dark about the Labor Day holiday weekend, back to school, the new DPS App, and how concerned citizens can submit a tip. Click below for more.
